Obituary for Joseph A. Zepf Jr.

COLONIE – Joseph A. Zepf, Jr., 79, died Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the Albany County Nursing Home. Born in Troy on March 21, 1936, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Louise Briele Zepf, Sr. Mr. Zepf was raised in Watervliet and was a graduate of LaSalle Institute in Troy and Albany Business College.
He was employed by Manning Paper Co. in Green Island and retired from the New York State Police as a communications specialist after 20 years of service at division headquarters in Albany.
He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Troy and was a member of the Dinner Club. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid fisherman on Lake Champlain. He was also a former member of the Albany Rod & Gun Club.
He was the husband of Carol O’Brien Zepf of Latham; loving father of Pamela Zepf (late Charles Madsen) of Latham; proud grandfather of Charles Madsen of Queens, NY and Daniel Madsen of Latham; brother of the late Marcia Zepf Kelley and George Zepf; uncle of Kimberly Kelley (Christopher) Reymann of Seaside Park, NJ and Cynthia Brown of Latham; great uncle of Thea and Brant Reymann; brother in law of Constance (George) Brown of Latham.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Albany Co. Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to Joe.
The funeral service will be Monday at 1 pm at the Faith Lutheran Church, 50 Leversee Road, Troy with Pastor Bill Hemple officiating. Interment of ashes will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rensselaer. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Sunday from 3-5 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 50 Leversee Road, Troy, NY 12182 or to Lutheran World Relay in care of the church.
