WATERVLIET – Betty M. Harriman Oathout, 81, died peacefully Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at the Van Rensselaer Manor in North Greenbush with her family at her side. Born in Averill Park on September 1, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Harold E. and Freida Larson Harriman (Sheriff of Troy). Betty has lived in Watervliet since 1955.
Betty was a homemaker and a beautician. She was a talented and creative artist who enjoyed painting, jewelry and her dolls.
She was the beloved wife of the late Harry Oathout who died in 2008; loving mother of Carolyn Oathout Dacey, Sandra Oathout Sawyer and Richard Oathout all of Watervliet and the late Paul Mark (JoAnn survives) Oathout who died in 2005; sister of Shirley (Salvatore) Mauriello of Grafton, Edward Harriman of Florida and the late Ruth Bort. Betty is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be Monday at 12:30 pm at the Bowen & Parker Bros. Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham with Pastor Andy Kanser officiating. Interment will follow in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Monday prior to the service from 11:00 am -12:30 pm.
