Obituary for Ronald W. Tinkler

WATERVLIET - Ronald W. Tinkler, 68, died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Albany Medical Center Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Brooklyn, Ronald was the son of the late William and Violet Tinkler. At the age of 14 he relocated to Troy where he went on to graduate from Troy High School. Ronald founded Ron’s Appliance where, through hard and honest work, he gained many long-time and loyal customers.

He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Latham, a volunteer with the Hope 7 Community Center Food Pantry in Troy and enjoyed gardening, stained glass and putting smiles on people’s faces with his hobby of balloon twisting and sculpture.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Sheila (MacDonald) Tinkler; his children, Noel Carol Hale and her husband John, Tarra Lynn Harbour and her husband Anthony and John Andrew Tinkler; his cherished grandchildren, Ashley and Nelson Hale, A.J., Adriana and Makenzie Harbour and Ethan Tinkler.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 in the Calvary United Methodist Church, Latham. The family will receive visitors on Saturday from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. Following the service a luncheon will be held at the church. To honor Ron’s love of the colors red, white and blue, his family requests that those attending the service wear clothing in those colors.

To remember Ronald in a special way, donations may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church, 15 Ridge Place, Latham, NY 12110 or to Hope 7 Community Center, 596 Pawling Avenue, Troy, NY 12180.
