Obituary for Gerard J. "Skip" Dunham

Troy, NY – Gerard J. “Skip” Dunham, 71, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 in Lee, Massachusetts.

Born in Troy on February 11, 1946, Skip was the son of the late Michael Dunham, Sr. and Ruth Roy Dunham Burke. He grew up in Lansingburgh; was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School and had resided in Poestenkill for a number of years where he once served as building inspector.

Skip was a retiree of the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation. His first love was baseball and he was an avid NY Yankees fan. Skip had dedicated many hours to the Twin Town Little League where he had coached and contributed to the construction of their baseball fields on Williams Road in North Greenbush.

Skip is survived by his three sons, Jerry Dunham of Watervliet, Douglas (Heather) Dunham of Montana and Daniel (Laine) Dunham of West Sand Lake; their mother and his former wife, Marie Maychack of Watervliet; his grandchildren, Josiah, Brian, Ethan, Jacob and Samantha Dunham; his step-grandchildren, Magnus and Skye Taylor; his brothers and sister, Louis (Claudia) Dunham, Paul (Connie) Dunham and Sheila (late Jim) Oswald and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Michael Dunham Jr. and his sister, Ruth Ellen Robert whose husband George survives.

A service will be held on Sunday at 4 PM in the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet. Friends are invited to attend and may also visit with Skip’s family on Sunday, before the service, from 2 until 4 PM. A private cremation will be held following the service.

In lieu of customary remembrances, donations, in memory of Gerard J. Dunham, may be made to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, 505 Eighth Avenue, Suite 902, New York, NY 10018.
