WATERVLIET – Joseph J. Cioffi, 67, died Sunday, July 30, 2017 at his home in Watervliet. Born in Troy on October 9, 1949, he was the son of the late John L. and Emily A. Marchese Cioffi.
Joe was a 1967 graduate of Watervliet High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. He served his country in the US Army National Guard.
Joe was an amateur boxer in the heavyweight division training under Dave Zyglewicz. Joe worked as a cook in the restaurant business and later owned Casa Napoli Italian Restaurant on 25th Street in Watervliet.
He returned to college later in life and received an Associate’s Degree in Hospitality and Tourism at Schenectady County Community College, where he also mentored students with their studies. He later received a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the Empire State College.
He is the brother of Kathy L. (George) Anselment of Clifton Park and the late Patrick J. Cioffi. He is also survived by several nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
