Obituary for Anastasia "Anna" Kurlak (Zuk)

LATHAM - Anna Kurlak, 99, of Latham, went home to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on September 15, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on January 4, 1918 in Stony Hill, Ukraine, she was a daughter of Peter and Anna Zuk.

Anna worked at the Montgomery Ward and Company Cafeteria in Menands, at McCarthy Manufacturing Company in Watervliet and at St. Nicholas Church. She was an excellent homemaker, who loved to cook, and was an outstanding baker. She loved to work in her garden and shared the fruits of her labor. More than all of these, she loved to listen to the Word of God and was in prayer for most of her twilight years.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Pettograsso (Ralph); her beloved grandchildren, Marc Pettograsso, Christi-Anna Pettograsso and Jennifer Simmons (Roy); and her precious great-grandson, Preston Simmons. Her family was her greatest joy, especially her three grandchildren and her great-grandson.

She was predeceased by her husband, John Kurlak, and her two sisters.

Friends and relatives are invited and may call on Friday, September 22, 2017, from 4 until 7 pm at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet during which time the Panakhyda service will be held at 6:30 pm. A liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 10 am in St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 2410-4th Avenue, Watervliet. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Maplewood.
