Obituary for Ruth E. Willi (McKenzie)

Troy – Ruth E. McKenzie Willi, 93, died on Friday, September 22, 2017 at the Van Rensselaer Manor in Troy.

Born in Watervliet on November 3, 1923, Ruth was the daughter of the late Thomas and Winifred (Toomey) McKenzie. She was raised in Watervliet and was educated at the former Sacred Heart of Mary School in Watervliet and Catholic Central High School in Troy. She furthered her education at the Troy Business School and the Troy Conservatory of Music.

Ruth dedicated much of her life to raising her family and caring for her home. She was the wife of the late Kenneth G. Willi who died in 1992. At the time of his passing they had celebrated more than 47 years of marriage together.

Ruth was an accomplished horsewoman and enjoyed playing tennis. She was an avid fan of the New York Mets.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Ruth Anne (John) Jojo; her son, Kevin A. (Claudia) Willi; her grandchildren, Kevin Jojo, Todd (Darcy) Jojo, Laura Willi and Charles Willi; her great-grandchild, Dylan Jojo; her brother, William McKenzie and several nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her infant son, Kenneth G. Willi, Jr.; her sister, Marie Castle and her brother William McKenzie.

A service will be held for Ruth on Tuesday at 10 am in the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Friends are invited and may also visit with Ruth’s family on Monday from 4 until 7 pm at the funeral home.
