Obituary for Mark Anthony Gander

Delanson – Mark A. Gander, 61, died unexpectedly on November 2, 2017 at Albany Medical Center, with his family by his side.
Born in Albany, Mark was the son of the late John A. and Katherine F. (Bolger) Gander. He was raised in Latham and was a 1975 graduate of the Christian Brothers Academy and Hudson Valley Community College. Mark enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country for 12 years. He resided in Utah and Nevada for a number of years before returning to the local area in 1992. Mark worked as a fire protection engineer and was employed by several companies both locally and in Nevada.

Mark loved life and enjoyed sailing on Lake George, camping, spending time at the family camp on Hadlock Pond and NASCAR. He was a fan of Westerns, John Wayne and Led Zeppelin.

Of all the things that Mark enjoyed, nothing gave him more pleasure than the times spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mark was pre-deceased by his sister, Linda M. Gander.

He is survived by his daughters, Brooke E. Gander (Aaron O’Bryan) and Anna B. Gander and their mother, Lynette; his grandchildren, Ava E. and Ivan P. O’Bryan; his sisters, Deborah A. Jerard (Michael), Pamela J. Wereskla (late George), Kim E. Gander and Amy K. Gander; his brother, Richard A. Gander and several friends, Phillip Gianni, Teresa Carrozza and Francis “LJ” Enzinna as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends are invited to visit with Mark’s family on Tuesday from 4 pm until 7 pm at the Bowen & Parker Brothers Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road in Latham. A graveside ceremony with military honors will be held on Wednesday at 12 PM in the Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
