The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Betty Hanchett can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence: I am so sorry to hear of the death of this amazing woman. If I am not mistaken, she was my Girl Scout Leader beginning in 1949. If I am correct, I can truthfully say that she was a spectacular scout leader. She made our lives full to the brim with wonderful activities. We took horseback riding lessons, went to Girl Scout camp, went Christmas caroling all over Latham, and under her guidance I earned 23 Girl Scout badges. We learned to etch designs on glass, etch metal bowls, do bookbinding, put on plays and so much more. She was the "idol" of my youth. May she be blessedly happy forever.
