Obituary for Margaret M. "Midge" Gaunay (Brearton)

EAST GREENBUSH – Margaret M. “Midge” Brearton Gaunay, 77, died Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy with her family at her side. She was born in Troy on May 27, 1940, the daughter of the late Francis and Margaret Mary Guerin Brearton.
Midge was raised in Troy and was a 1959 graduate of Troy High School. She married her beloved husband Guy on December 5, 1959 in St. Peter’s Church in Troy. They lived in Wynantskill for 42 years before moving to East Greenbush in 2006.
She was employed by Pioneer Savings Bank in Watervliet as the training coordinator for 26 years before retiring in 1995.
Midge enjoyed spending time with her family, vacationing, family dinners and get togethers.
In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling to Ireland, Barbados, Hilton Head and Arizona. She spent her 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii and her 50th wedding anniversary in the Outer Banks with her family.
She is the beloved wife of 58 years of Harold “Guy” T. Gaunay; loving mother of Timothy M. (Angela) Gaunay of Wynantskill, James H. (Karen) Gaunay of Malta and Carol Gaunay of Sand Lake; adored grandmother of Kristin M. (Greg) Kehrer, Justin J. Cooper, Eric J. Gaunay and Ashley M. Gaunay; dear sister of Mary Agnes “Micki” Pelletier of Averill Park and the late Connie (late Walt) Murray and the late Frank J. (late Cydne) Brearton. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Allison DeTomassi, Dr. Lisa Thorne, Dr. Richard Bauer and the emergency room staffs at St. Peter’s and Samaritan Hospitals for the wonderful care given to Midge.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral mass on Monday, November 13th at 1:30 pm at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 175 Williams Road, North Greenbush with Rev. Randall Patterson officiating. There will be no calling hours.
