Obituary for Sarah J. "Sally" Radz (DeLory)

Ballston Spa – Sarah J. “Sally” (DeLory) Radz, 89, formerly of Scotia-Glenville, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the Saratoga Center for Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold P. Radz, Jr.

Born and educated in Colonie, Sally was daughter of the late David H. and Cora (Umbewust) DeLory. She attended Latham Schools and was a graduate of Watervliet High School. Sally was a long-time resident of Glenville, having resided there from 1960 until 2007. She was employed, for five years, as a clerk with the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance from where she retired in 1952. Sally dedicated much of the rest of her life to raising her family and caring for her home.

She was a talented gardener and floral designer. In addition to creating many beautiful floral arrangements for weddings and parties, she designed and made corsages and boutonnieres for each of her grandchildren’s proms. She also enjoyed cake-decorating and other crafts, decorating for holidays, and loved listening to all kinds of music. Her fashion sense was second to none. Everything from the hat to the shoes was always perfect. Her favorite “night out” was going dancing with Harold, and her favorite place to be was in her garden.

Sally was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Schenectady/Glenville Ward, where she and Harold sang in the choir for many years.

She was the much loved mother of Jackie Reinhardt (Jim) of Glenville, Kurt W. Radz (Kelley) of Schenectady, Stephen R. Radz (Deb) of Rexford and Janine L. Aschauer (Brian) of Schuylerville; grandmother of Dave, Tom, Nick, Mike and Allison Reinhardt, Joe and Stephen P. Radz and Brandon and Justin Aschauer; great-grandmother of Pacy and Libby Reinhardt; sister of the late David H. DeLory, Jr. and Daniel R. DeLory. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Clare Radz, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 am in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 31 Bradt Road, Rexford, NY. Interment will follow, at 1:30 pm, in the Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery. Friends are invited to attend and may also visit with Sally’s family on Wednesday from 5-8 pm at the church.
