Obituary for Eva Nystoriak

COHOES – Eva Nystoriak, 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Eddy Heritage House Nursing Center in Troy.

Eva was born in Colonie on February 24, 1923 and was the beloved daughter of the late Theodore and Julia (Haschytz) Nystoriak.

Eva was raised in Cohoes where she moved as a young girl, and was a graduate of Cohoes High School. She was employed by the former Troy District Shirt Factory for about one year before she relocated to Washington D.C. to accept a position with the Federal Aviation Administration Office of Air Traffic Control. After a career of 32 years, Eva retired from the position of senior management analyst and continued to reside in Washington D.C. until 1991 when she returned to Cohoes to be closer to her family.

Her retirement years were dedicated to her home and spending time with her family.

Eva was a member of St. Basil Russian Orthodox Church in Maplewood.

She is survived by her brother, Metro Nystoriak of Cohoes and her sister, Sophie (late George) Zonitch of Las Vegas, NV as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph, Michael (late Pauline) and Walter Nystoriak and her sister, Tessie Nystoriak.

Eva’s funeral will be held from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway in Watervliet on Wednesday at 9:30 am and at 10 am in St. Basil’s Russian Orthodox Church, Maplewood where the funeral service will be celebrated by Archpriest Peter Olsen, rector.
Interment will follow in St. Basil’s Cemetery, Maplewood. Friends are invited and may also visit with Eva’s family on Tuesday from 4 until 6 pm at the funeral home. The Panakhyda service will be held at 5:30 pm in the funeral home on Tuesday during the visiting hours.

Memorial donations, in Eva’s memory, may be made to St. Basil’s Russian Orthodox Church Restoration Fund, 6 Lansing Avenue, Watervliet, NY 12189.
