SCHAGHTICOKE – Thomas Patrick Sage, 69, died Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the Van Rensselaer Manor in North Greenbush. Born in Troy on February 24, 1948, he was the son of the late William P. and Margaret Burroughs Sage.
Tom was raised in South Troy and graduated from St. Mary’s School and LaSalle Institute, class of 1965. He later graduated from Hudson Valley Community College with an Associate’s degree in Business Management.
He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War serving from 1968-71 in Vietnam and Germany.
Tom was employed by the Benet Laboratories at the Watervliet Arsenal for over 25 years before retiring in 2006.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He also belonged to the Green Island and Stillwater Rod & Gun Clubs where he was an expert marksman.
He was the beloved husband of the late Ellen Beth Alessi Sage who died August 10, 2016; dear brother of Terrence (Joan Caouette) Sage off Wynantskill, Mary Ann (Randall) Southwick of Wynantskill and Eric (Andrea Cooper Sage) Sage of Schenectady. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Friday at 9:30 am at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet with Deacon Charles Wojton officiating. Interment will follow at 11:30 am at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-6 pm.
