Obituary for Rita M. Rausch (Beaudoin)

WATERVLIET – Rita M. Beaudoin Rausch, 97, died peacefully, Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush. Born in Watervliet on September 23, 1920, she was the daughter of the late George P. and Emma Fleming Beaudoin, Sr.
Rita was a member of the last graduating class from the old Watervliet High School which is now the Watervliet Civic Center. She was a member of the Girl Scouts growing up.
During World War II, she worked at the former Covert Manufacturing Co. making snaps for parachutes and also at the Watervliet Arsenal. Following the war, she worked at Proctor’s Theater in Troy as head usherette. She later worked and did volunteer work for the American Cancer Society.
She was a communicant of the former Sacred Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet and was a member of the Rosary Society until its closing. She was noted for selling the most raffle tickets for different church functions. She later joined St. Patrick’s Church and was presently a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish.
She was a member of the Watervliet Senior Citizens and appeared in the movie “The Bostonians” which was filmed in Troy.
She was the wife of the late Otto E. Rausch who died in 1973; beloved mother of Ronald E. (Bev) Rausch of Hannacroix, NY and Jeffrey T. Rausch of Watervliet; grandmother of Michael and Nicole Rausch; great grandmother of Max Rausch; sister in law of Lillian Beaudoin of Watervliet. She was predeceased by 5 brothers, George, Robert, Raymond, William and Eugene Beaudoin and 4 sisters, Stella Connors, Esther Filuta and Betty Finelli. She is also survived by a special niece, Maria Finelli and several other nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Saturday, January 13 from 8:30-10:00 am followed by a memorial service at 10:00 am with Deacon Al Manzilla officiating. Rita’s ashes will be interred with her parents at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Watervliet following the service.
