Obituary for Lillian P. Squadere (Assini)

Latham – Lillian P. Squadere, 84, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at home. Born in Watervliet on September 18, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Philomenia Signore Assini.

From an early age, Lillian was a very active and compassionate presence in the community. From her roles as a Girl Scout Leader, Home Room Mother, Rotary Club chef and Meals on Wheels volunteer, to her involvement with HOBY, the Prime Timers, the Blue Creek Garden Club, the Troy Women’s Club (past President), the Ilium Literary Club (past President), the Board of the Troy YWCA and the Calvary United Methodist Church. Lillian poured her heart into everything she did. She was an avid traveler and loved her trips to Lake George and around the world, and she enjoyed attending regional and national performing arts events.

She touched the lives of so many and will always be remembered as the consummate hostess and event planner for her many dear friends. She was revered as the acting matriarch of the Assini family, sharing wisdom and surrounding her family with love. She lived life to the fullest, always with a smile on her face.

Lillian is pre-deceased by her husband and loving partner of 44 years, Nicholas J. Squadere Jr., her brothers, William S. (Elizabeth) and Vincent (Jean) Assini, and her sisters, Barbara (Paul) Tazbir and Ann (William) Mooney. She is survived by her loving daughter, Lori Squadere (Todd LaRoche), her brother, Joseph Assini, Jr. of Watervliet, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
