Obituary for Annina A. Sylvester (Walsh)

COHOES – Annina A. (Walsh) Sylvester, 66, died peacefully on January 8, 2018 surrounded by her family’s love.

Born in Troy on May 24, 1951, Annina was the daughter of Irene King Walsh Hegarty who survives and the late Myles J. Walsh and the step-daughter of William Hegarty.

She was raised in Troy and was a graduate of Troy High School. She later attended Hudson Valley Community College. Annina was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged and for her service and received the National Defense Service Medal. She was employed by the New York Telephone Company for many years and retired in 1998 from Verizon. More recently Annina worked for Boscov’s Department Store as a part-time employee.

Annina enjoyed working as a poll watcher for the Albany County Republican Party. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was very proud of her Irish heritage. One of her favorite places to visit was Walt Disney World in Florida and did so as recently as last year with her family. She had also visited Ireland.

Annina endlessly loved her family and her children and grandchildren especially filled her heart with pride.

In addition to her mother and step-father, Annina is survived by her loving children, Beth A. Fronczek (John) of Waterford, Jeff P. Sylvester of Clifton Park, Timothy P. Sylvester of Green Island, Jason P. Sylvester of Troy and Samantha M. Kennedy (Megan) of Kannapolis, NC; her cherished grandchildren, Brandon, Jenna, Serina and Bailey; her brother and sister, Thomas Walsh, Sr. (Diane) of Brunswick and Arlene DiNova of Troy as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 am in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 411 Loudon Road, Loudonville, NY. Interment, with military honors, will follow at 12:30 pm in the Saratoga National Cemetery. Friends are invited to attend and may also visit with Annina’s family on Wednesday from 4 until 7 pm at the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad Street, Waterford.
