Obituary for Michael E. Mullady

Michael E. Mullady
MADEIRA BEACH, FL - On January 13, 2018, Michael E. Mullady, age 74, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Michael was born in Schenectady on September 3, 1943 and was raised in Ballston Spa.
He was the proud son of the late Edward F. Mullady who was a war hero, killed in WWII on the USS Bismarck Sea, at the Battle of Iwo Jima, when Michael was just 2 years old. Michael was raised by his devoted parents, the late Anne Leahy Mullady Powers and Paul J. Powers.
Michael attended Christian Brothers Academy and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School, where he graduated in 1961, and then attended St. Bonaventure University. Following in his father’s footsteps, Michael served his country, joining the United States Air Force and serving in Vietnam.
Michael married the love of his life, Sue Keegan Mullady, and together they raised their two sons in Burnt Hills, NY. Michael was a hard-working man who spent many years at Sterling Winthrop in Rensselaer, NY, before transferring to Pennsylvania and working for Eastman Kodak. After retiring to Florida, Michael became a real estate agent for Century 21 Real Estate Champions of Madeira Beach.
Michael spent the winters at his home in Madeira Beach, Florida, where he and Sue enjoyed the sunshine and living on the beach. He spent the summers enjoying his family and friends at their home away from home on the Great Sacandaga Lake. Throughout his life, Michael enjoyed snowmobiling, painting on canvas, photography, the ride-on lawnmower, fishing, family trips to Myrtle Beach, tinkering with his Hot Rod, and the companionship of his beloved dogs, especially Maggie, Mickey, June and Gracie.
Michael’s greatest love, and source of pride and determination, was his beloved family. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Sue K. Mullady, his devoted sons, Michael (Colleen) Mullady and Patrick (Arbelyn) Mullady. Michael was the cherished “Bear Mike” to his grandchildren, Patrick (Meghan) Bowers, Ryan (Marissa) Bowers, and the adoring “Pa” to Kevin (Sabrina) Mullady, Tyler and Marlowe Mullady and Great Grand-Pa to Ainsley Bowers. Michael also leaves behind to cherish his memory, his brothers, John K. (Christine) Powers and David (Carol) Powers, many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends, with whom he treasured his time.
Michael’s family is forever grateful for his strength in fighting his heroic battle, which gave us many cherished years with him. We will miss him forever.
Relatives and friends may call at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Friday from 9:00-10:30 am. His funeral mass to which everyone is invited will follow at 11:30 am at St. Mary’s Church, 167 Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa. Interment with military honors will be at 1 pm at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
