Obituary for Licia A. Coratti (Bianchi)

AMSTERDAM, NY – Licia A. Coratti, 81, entered into eternal life on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the Teresian House in Albany, with her cherished family by her side.

Born in Isola, del Liri, Italy on December 4, 1936, Licia was the daughter of the late Mario and Ersilia (Merolle) Bianchi.

She came to the United States, at the age of 19, following her marriage to her beloved husband, Anthony A. Coratti who passed away on January 11, 2016.

Licia learned to speak English while in this country and, over time, earned an Associate’s degree from Fulton Montgomery Community College and later a Bachelor’s degree, from the Excelsior program at SUNY Albany, in psychology and art history.

A resident of Amsterdam for much of her life, Licia was a dedicated homemaker. She raised her family, cared for her home and also cared for her parents and her husband later in life. Licia was employed by Amsterdam Memorial Hospital as the manager of the gift shop, a position she held for more than 20 years.

She enjoyed to travel and with her husband had visited places such as South America, Egypt, Switzerland, Greece and France. She was a talented cook and seamstress as well as an artist who enjoyed etching.

Licia is survived by her cherished daughters and their families, Jenny Quirk and her husband Jim and their sons, Thomas and Steven of Latham and Diana Wahrlich and her husband Rick and their sons, Brian and Andrew of Colonie; her dear brothers, Vinicio Bianchi and his wife Elisa of Brooklyn and Carlo Bianchi and his wife Nancy of Long Island as well as many nieces and nephews.

A private funeral service will be held at the Bowen & Parker Brothers Funeral Home in Latham.

For those who wish to remember Licia in a special way, her family suggests a donation be made to the Teresian House, 200 Washington Avenue Ext., Albany, NY 12203, in recognition of the wonderful care she received while residing there.
