Obituary for Isabelle Margaret Amato (Ashline)

Watervliet – Isabelle Margaret Ashline Amato passed away peacefully on March 13, 2018, with her family by her side at the age of 91. Born in Watervliet, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Margaret Ashline.

She was a graduate of Watervliet High School and worked for the State of New York. She also enjoyed working as a waitress at several local restaurants. She found a second family during her second career, working as a Clerk at Siena College, as she made many friends during her 29 years there. Isabelle was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish and was very devoted to her faith. She loved vacations and spontaneous day trips with her children and grandkids. A selfless, caring mother and grandmother, she always put others before herself. Nothing brought her more joy in this life than her family.

Isabelle is survived by her children; Thomas (Barbara) Amato of Clermont, FL, AnnMarie (Jim) Mastin of Schodack, and AJ (Ann) Amato of Delmar, her grandchildren; Todd (Christina) Amato, Kristy (Laurence) Lawlor, Lindsey Mastin, Megan Mastin, Katherine Amato, and Aaron Amato, her great-grandchildren; Thomas Amato and Felicity Lawlor, and her sister, Margaret Becker of Latham. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Amato, Sr., her daughter, Barbara Ann Amato, her grandchildren; Jennifer Amato and David Amato, and her brothers; Edward Ashline, Rev. Alfred Ashline, and Robert Ashline. Isabelle’s family would like the extend a special thank-you to Janet Gilchrist and her family for the love they have given to her, and also to the Teresian House for the care and compassion extended to Isabelle during her stay this past year.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 15, from 4 until 7 PM at Parker Bros. Memorial Funeral Home, Watervliet. A funeral mass will be held Friday, March 16 at 10 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Watervliet. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Those who wish to remember Isabelle in a special way may consider a donation to Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 2416 7th Ave., Watervliet, NY 12189, or to the Teresian House, 200 Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12203.
