TROY – James W. Burger, Sr., 83, died Sunday, March 18, 2018 at his home in South Troy. Born in Mansfield, Ohio on November 9, 1934, he was the son of the late Charles and Mariam Finney Burger. At the age of 7, he moved with his family to Troy where he was raised and educated.
He attended Hudson Valley Community College where he studied in the Machine Shop.
He was employed as an auto worker for Ford Motor Company in Green Island for over 30 years before retiring in 1991.
He loved hunting and fishing and was a lifetime member of the NRA. He was an avid fan of the New York Mets and the Buffalo Bills.
He was the beloved husband of 50 years of the late Helen M. Alaskey Burger who died in 2005; devoted father of James W. Burger, Jr. of Lansingburgh and Charles J. (Pamela) Burger of Delmar; proud grandfather of Jason C.Burger of Atlanta, GA; brother of the late Mary Ellen Stolle, Kenneth and David Burger and Virginia Burkhart. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 10 am at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet with Deacon Charles Wojton officiating. Interment will follow in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-6 pm.
