Obituary for Savvas Haralambidis

Watervliet – Savvas Haralambidis, 85, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 18, 2018. Born in Palia Kavvala, Greece, he was the son of the late Christos and Heleni (Lasaridis) Haralambidis. Savvas came to the United States in 1973 and settled in Watervliet.

He was employed as a molder by the Ross Valve Company in Troy and the Watervliet Iron and Brass Company.

He was a member of St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church in Troy.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Eva (Zahopolou) Haralambidis; his son and daughter-in-law, Christos Haralambidis and Elena Doyle of Oak Park, IL; his grandchildren, Zoe and Nicholas; his sisters, Louola Tsinganos, Maria Tselios, and Anasta Haralambidis as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Katina Goulas and his brother, Dimitri Haralambidis.

His funeral will be held on Friday at 9:00 am from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 10 am in St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church, Troy. Interment will be held in the spring in St. Basil’s Cemetery, Maplewood.

Friends are invited and may also visit with Savvas’ family on Thursday from 4 until 7 pm during which time the Trisagion Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 pm.
