Obituary for Richard M. "Dick" DiBacco

MAPLEWOOD – Richard M. DiBacco, 93, died peacefully Saturday, July 21, 2018 at his home in Maplewood. Born in Steubenville, OH on March 7, 1925, he was the son of the late Gaetano and Custode DiPietro DiBacco.
At the age of 7, Dick moved with his family to Maplewood where he attended Maplewood School and later graduated from Watervliet High School. He was a standout basketball player for the Cannoneers. Along with his brothers Bill, Tony and Orlando, he played semi-pro basketball with the Arsenal City Motors and for the Jewish Community Center.
Dick worked alongside his family at the family farm in Maplewood growing produce which was sold at the Troy and Menands Market and Grand Union. During the winter, he worked for Al Tech Specialty Steel and for the Town of Colonie Water Department.
He was an avid bowler and loved to play the horses and enjoyed trips to the dog and horse tracks.
He was the husband of the late Jeannette Daigneault DiBacco who died February 27, 1975; beloved father of Joy DiBacco Hopeck and her husband Edward J. Hopeck of Ballston Lake, Jean DiBacco Rench and her husband Randal E. Rench of Ballston Lake, Richard DiBacco and his wife Helen Mokey DiBacco of Maplewood, Nicholas DiBacco and his wife Bonnie Stoll DiBacco of Carlsbad, CA and Donna DiBacco of Saratoga County; proud grandfather of Zachery (Dr. Amanda Little) Liney, Deana Hopeck, Christopher N. Rench, Sarah J. Rench (Matthew) Prediletto, Cailin Rench (Clifford) Estartis, Vinney and Danielle DiBacco, Schyler, Roman and Milan DiBacco; great grandfather of Calvin Clifford Estaris.
He was predeceased by his siblings, William (late Carol) DiBacco and Orlando (late Mary Ann) DiBacco both of Maplewood, Anthony (Angie) DiBacco of Watervliet and Lillian (late William) Heiner of Lewisburg, PA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Wednesday from 9 am-12pm followed by a funeral service at 12 noon at the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watervliet.
