Obituary for Vincent DePaul Storms

Schuylerville, NY – Vincent de Paul Storms, 67, a long-time resident of Watervliet, died on Sunday, July 29, 2018, at his daughter’s home surrounded by his family.

Born in Albany on April 30, 1951, Vincent was the son of the late Joseph V. Storms and Dorothy (Hoefer) Storms. He was raised in Watervliet and was a graduate of Watervliet High School. Vincent had honorably served his country from 1969 until 1972 in the Army during the Vietnam War.

Vince was initially employed by the Watervliet Arsenal and Perfection Plating. He later furthered his education and became and ophthalmologic lab technician and worked for Empire Vision Works in Troy for 17 years before his retirement.

He enjoyed fishing, kayaking, gardening and woodworking.

He was husband of Helen M. (Bennett) Storms who predeceased him on November 12, 2008. He is survived by Edward Bennett (Teia) of Watervliet, Diana Reed (Tom) of Troy, Kay Fisk (Dan) of Schuylerville, Vincent Storms II (Rhonda) of Schenectady, Helen Deitz (Chris) of Delmar, Richard Storms (Allan) of Albany, James Storms (Heather) of Schuylerville and Cassandra Storms of Watervliet. Brother of Joseph Storms (Kim) of Los Angeles, CA, Lou Storms (Dorcie) of Florida, Suzanne Storms (late Edward) of Watervliet and Fred Storms (Diane) of Oklahoma. Also surviving at 19 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be celebrated by the Reverend John F. Tallman on Wednesday at 12:30 am in the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and interment, with military honors, will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville at 2 pm. Friends are invited to attend and may also visit with Vincent’s family on Wednesday, prior to the service, from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm.
