Obituary for Margaret L. Jones (McGrouty)

WATERVLIET - Margaret L. McGrouty Jones, 87, died Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the Hudson Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Albany. Born in Troy on September 9, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Lang McGrouty.
Margaret resided in Watervliet for most of her life and was employed by Montgomery Wards, Lou’s Diner, Hooker Venetian Blinds and Cohoes Carry Bag before retiring.
She was the wife of the late Robert E. Jones; sister of the late Lauree (Wilma) McGrouty and the late Frank (Mary) McGrouty; beloved aunt of Laurie (Renee) McGrouty, Patricia Shufelt Snover, Jeanne Turton, Frank (Kathy) McGrouty, Peg (Van) Ontkush, Michael (Eileen) Walukas and Ellen (Roy) Prior; great aunt of Kelly Shufelt, Ted (Lynda) Shufelt, Jeff (late Nicole) Hauser, Frank (Lara) Pollay, Danielle Pollay Michael, Shawn (Jen) Murphy, Patrick (Becky) McGrouty, Meaghan (Chuck) Castle, Kaleigh and Molly McGrouty, Mark (Courtney) Ontkush, Marybeth Ontkush and the late Michael Ontkush, Marie and Kristen Walukas and Matthew Prior. Also survived by several great-great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank her late cousin Gloria for always being here like a sister, Bobbi Madsen for being such a great friend and the staff at Hudson Park Nursing Center for their wonderful care.
The funeral will be Friday at 10:30 am at Cummings Funeral Home, 643 Third Avenue, Watervliet with Fr. Martin Wendell and Fr. Joseph Busch officiating. Interment will follow in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Friday prior to the service from 9-10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church, 1336 First Avenue, Watervliet, NY 12189.
