Obituary for Jean M. Caldwell

Latham – Jean Marie Caldwell, 84, passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn on Wednesday evening, December 5, 2018, with her loving family by her side. Born in Troy on December 20, 1933, she was the daughter of the late John and Mabel Murphy.
Jean grew up attending St. Peter’s Catholic School and Catholic Central, where she was a member of the graduating class of 1951. She then worked for General Electric in Schenectady, but left to look after and raise her 5 children. Once her kids were grown, she went back to work at the New York State Dept. of Tax and Finance, from where she eventually retired. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren whom she adored so much.
Jean is survived by her children; Kevin J. Caldwell of Watertown, Michael J. (Dawn) Caldwell of Black River, Timothy J. (Susan) Caldwell of Glenville, Kathleen M. (Frederick) McGraw of Watertown, and Maureen A. (Keith) Kostanoski of Selkirk, 14 grandchildren; Brianna, Patrick, Courtney, Colin, Connor, Meghan, Erin, Brendan, Ryan, Michael, Caitlin, Kieran, Kate, and James, 6 great-grandchildren; Joseph, Alena, Willow, Sawyer, Ryleigh, and William, and her longtime best friend, Helen Mundy. Jean was preceded in death by her dear husband, George R. Caldwell and by her sister, Mary Mabel Murphy.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, December 10, 2018 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Latham. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation on Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 3 until 6 PM at Parker Bros. Memorial, Watervliet.
