William T. "Bill"  Quinlan
Troy – William T. Quinlan, 83, formerly of Brunswick, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at his residence in the Terrace at Eddy Memorial in Troy following a short illness.

Born in Troy, Bill was the son of the late Dr. John J. and Clara A. Flanigan Quinlan. He was a graduate of the LaSalle Institute in Troy and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve his country during World War II. It was while in the Navy that Bill earned his X-Ray Technician’s license and was married to the former Peggy Wells. Together, they enjoyed more than 63 years of marriage until her passing in 2009. Bill, along with his brother John, owned and operated Q & Q Electronics Supply in Troy, for a number of years, before he took the position of supervisor with Albany Steel, Inc. in Menands, where he was employed for more than 35 years. He also stayed active with his son and grandson at Quinlan Electric. Bill held the position of Chair of the City of Troy Electrical Board and enjoyed memberships in the Country Club of Troy and the Brunswick Lodge of Elks. He loved to golf and garden and took great pride in caring for his family and his home.

Bill’s family is deeply grateful to the medical professionals who provided such wonderful care to him during his illness, to the Community Hospice, and to the staff and residents of the Terrace at Eddy Memorial for their care and friendship.

Pre-deceased by his parents, his beloved wife, Peggy and his cherished son, Billy, Bill is survived by his loving children, Robert (Dianne) Quinlan of Cohoes, Margy (Russ) Jarem of Clifton Park, Marcia (Benjamin) VanDuzer of Latham and Clara (Mark) Duncan of Sycaway; his brothers, John J. (Mary) Quinlan, Jr. of Troy, Dr. Edward Carl (MaryLu) Quinlan formerly of Troy, Dr. Paul Timothy (Judy) Quinlan of Latham and Louis H. Quinlan, Esq. of Troy; and his eleven devoted grandchildren and his cherished quadruplet great-grandchildren.

His funeral will be held from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Saturday at 8:45am and then at 9:30 am in the Shrine Church of St. Anthony of Padua, State Street, Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Reverend Mario F. Julian, OFM. A private cremation will follow and Bill’s ashes will be placed in St. Mary’s Mausoleum in Troy, next to those of his wife Peggy and son Billy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass and may also call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 until 7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations, in Bill’s name, may be made to the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY, 12144.
