Obituary for Doreen Mary Iachetta (LaFore)

COHOES – Doreen Mary (LaFore) Iachetta, 89, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Albany Medical Center Hospital.

Doreen was born in Albany on January 27, 1927 and was the daughter of the late John F. and Eileen (Monahan) LaFore. As a young girl she spent her formative years in Albany. She was a graduate of Cathedral Academy.

Doreen was employed, for a short while, by the National Commercial Bank and Trust Company in Albany. Following her marriage, she relocated to Watervliet and dedicated her life to the care of her family and her home.

She was a member of the Watervliet Senior Citizens and was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church in Cohoes.

The Iachetta family extends a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of D 4 North at Albany Medical Center for the wonderful care given to Doreen during her stay.

Doreen was preceded in death by her son, Joseph; twin daughters, Rosemary and Roberta; sister, Frances Lawton; brother, John LaFore; father and mother-in-law, Antonio and Mary Iachetta and sister-in-law, Philomena Ostwald.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Joseph J. Iachetta; her daughter, Diane (Stephen) Dombroski of Latham; her sons, Michael (Deborah) Iachetta of Rotterdam, Thomas (Cathleen) Iachetta of Waterford and Paul Iachetta of Clifton Park; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Marie LaFore of Belchertown, MA, Rose Murphy of Watervliet and Mary Anne and Charles Kilcullen of Schenectady. Doreen is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Monday at 10:15 AM from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 11 AM in St. Michael’s Church, Cohoes where the funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Reverend Peter Tkocz, pastor. The Rite of Committal and interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watervliet. Friends are invited to attend and may also visit with Doreen’s family on Sunday from 4 until 7 PM at the funeral home.
