Obituary for Robert Francis Jones Sr.

LAKE WALES, FL –Robert F. Jones, Sr., 82, passed on April 12, 2017 after a long illness. He passed away at Lake Wales Hospital, Florida. Born and raised in Watervliet, New York, he was the son of the late William and Clara (Comeau) Jones. After graduation from high school, Bob served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. Following his service to our country, he went to work for Niagara Mohawk Power Corp., working his way up the ladder. While at Niagara Mohawk, Bob was very active in the I.B.E.W., L.U. 137 Union, first as Shop Steward, then Financial Secretary, and then was voted in as President/Business Manager for many years. Leisure included boating, bowling, softball and all around handyman. Bob was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing cards later in life.
Bob is survived by his loving daughter Linda (Thomas) Tuller of North Colonie; his loving son Robert F. (Mary) Jones, Jr. of Wichita Falls, TX; his sister Marie Larkin of Cortland, NY; and his long-time partner Gladys Todosciuk of Lake Wales, FL; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Bob was predeceased by his son, Richard A. Jones; his twin sister Margaret Jones; his brother William Jones; his former wife Evelyn Jones; and his grandson Joseph Scorza.
Family and friends are invited to memorial calling hours on Tuesday, April 25, from 6-8 pm at Cummings Funeral Home, 643 Third Avenue, Watervliet. A Christian service will be held the following morning, Wednesday starting at the funeral home at 10:15 am, followed by a Roman Catholic Mass at 11:00 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 2416 7th Avenue, Watervliet. Interment will immediately follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
