Obituary for James S. Keefe Jr.

East Greenbush – James S. Keefe, Jr., 77, passed away peacefully at home on January 2, 2018 with his loving family by his side. Born in Cohoes on June 17, 1940, he was the son of the late James “Yipper” Sr. and Mary Keefe.

James was raised in Cohoes where he attended Keveny High School. He had a long career working for The Bendix Corporation in Green Island, retiring from there after over 40 years of hard work and dedication. He also enjoyed going out bowling, and his beloved canine friends; Samson, Jaden, and Angel. James was a devout Catholic and communicant of the Church of St. Mary at Clinton Heights.

He is survived by his two adoring daughters; Patricia (Robert) Fortin of East Greenbush, and Tara (Sheryl Guidi) O’Keefe of East Greenbush, his grandchildren; Robert James Fortin, Matthew Louis Fortin, and Denise Marie Fortin, his forever wife, special and forever friend, Marie (Don) Keefe of East Greenbush, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Pat and Bob Thompson of Texas, and his dear friend, Don Beard. James’ family would like to extend a special ‘thank-you’ to the staff at Community Hospice, especially Darren and Trish.

A visitation will be held Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 4 until 7 PM at the Parker Bros. Memorial Funeral Home, Watervliet. A funeral mass will be held Friday, January 5, 2018, 8:30 AM at the funeral home, 9:30 AM at the Church of St. Mary at Clinton Heights. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
