Obituary for Carol A. Zepf (O'Brien)

LATHAM – Carol A. O’Brien Zepf, 79, died peacefully Friday, January 25, 2018 at the Albany Medical Center with her family at her side. She was born in Watervliet on September 12, 1938, the daughter of the late Alfred L. and Clara Huth O’Brien.
Carol was raised in Watervliet and was a graduate of School 9 and Watervliet High School. Early in her career, she was employed by the New York Telephone Company in Albany for several years. She then was a homemaker raising her daughter Pam. She returned to work as an administrative assistant to the Presbytery of Albany located in Watervliet where she worked for over 30 years before retiring.
She was a longtime member of the Jermain Memorial Presbyterian Church in Watervliet and served as an Elder and Clerk of Session. She was also a member of the Sessions Record Committee for the Presbytery of Albany. In recent years, she was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Albany and served as a Deacon.
Carol was a member of the Habitat for Humanity of Rensselaer County and loved to travel, which included trips across the United States, Russia, Italy, England and Scotland.
She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Zepf, Jr., beloved mother of Pamela C. Zepf of Latham; loving grandmother of Charles A. Madsen of New York City and Daniel E. Madsen of Latham; dear sister of Constance M. (George “Bill”) Brown of Latham and the late Daniel E. O’Brien; aunt of Cynthia A. Brown of Latham and Kimberly E. (Christopher) Reymann of Seaside Park, NJ; great aunt of Thea and Brant Reymann; longtime loving companion of Rev. James R. Thompson, Jr. of Latham and is also survived by several cousins.
The funeral service will be Monday morning at 11:00 am at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 510 Albany-Shaker Road, Loudonville with Pastor Edwina E. Landry officiating. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Sunday from 3-6 p m. Carol’s ashes will be interred at a later date at Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.
