ALBANY – Mary Grace Miller Stoddard, 97, died peacefully, Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center with her beloved family at her side.
Born in Albany on May 10, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Cornelia Crowley Miller. Mary was raised and educated in Albany and lived throughout the Capital District most recently in Watervliet.
She was employed as a secretary and stenographer for the Albany School Board. For most of her life she was a homemaker raising her seven children.
She was a member of the former First Presbyterian Church on 23rd Street in Watervliet where she sang in the choir. She also enjoyed attending bingo.
She was the wife of the late Peter M. Stoddard; loving mother of Bruce T. (Fonda) Stoddard of Gansevoort, Bonnie J. (Ernest Sr.) Bovee of Loudonville, Brian (Diane) Stoddard of Charlotte, NC, Joseph and Beverly Stoddard both of Watervliet, Brenda (Ed) Baker of Troy and Brandt (Diane) Stoddard of East Haven, CT. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 11:30 am at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet with Pastor Nick TeBordo officiating. Interment will follow in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands. Relatives and friends are invited and may call prior to the service on Thursday from 10:00-11:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
