Obituary for Josephine Kenney Feiden

LOUDONVILLE – Josephine Kenney Feiden, 93, our precious Mom passed peacefully at home on the evening of May 5, 2018, surrounded by her loving family and her dear German Shepard, Miss Lili.
Josephine was born in Troy, NY on January 25, 1925 to Elizabeth Kehn and Albert Kenney. She lost her father at a very early age and was raised during the depression; always recognizing integrity and a good work ethic. Josephine grew up in Troy, graduated from Catholic High and enjoyed a career in Troy City Hall as Executive Assistant to Mayor Jack Ahern, Marty Stack and Congressman Dean Taylor.
She met the love of her life, Earl, on a blind date and married in 1949; Josephine and Earl celebrated their 69th anniversary on April 30. Together they built a home in Loudonville where they lovingly raised their seven children. She was very much the matriarch of the family and created a rich and nurturing environment that provided benefit and enjoyment for all. Through her love of cooking, gardening, decorating, and hands on guidance, she truly created a wonderful life and an amazing paradise for her family.
Josephine was a life-long animal lover and freely opened her heart and home to many pets.
Earl and Jo traveled internationally and enjoyed many exotic destinations; always returning with amazing stories and treasured souvenirs for all.
Josephine enjoyed spending summers at their family home in Cape Cod. Family adventures, evening beach parties, amazing sunsets and sunbathing on her deck overlooking the Provincetown Harbor were among her favorites.
She was involved in a number of charitable organizations such as Equinox, belonged to the Rosary Association and was a lifelong parishioner at Our Lady of Assumption.
Jo and Earl are long time members of Troy Country Club and Wolferts Roost Country Club, appreciating the company of family and friends at the many dining and social events over the years.
She loved the outdoors and spent many days at their camp in the Adirondacks, enjoying snowmobiling, hiking and fishing. Jo was always up for ice cream and a visit in the evening to the dump to watch the bears.
Earl and Jo shared boating adventures with their daughters, sailing the waters of New England and navigating the Hudson River.
She often spent winters in California, escaping the cold weather for the sunny coast of Pebble Beach.
Josephine is survived by Earl, her loving husband of 69 years. She was a devoted and very special Mom to Nadine (Robert Shadlock), Lisa (David Huntley), Brad (Christine), Mary (Mark Raciti), Mark, Michael (Paula) and Cindy (Bill Snyder). Grandchildren: Danielle (Soufyan Khadir), Elissa (Will Andrews), Bradley, Rachel, Katharine, Justin, Matthew, Dane, Jared, Tatiana, Ava, Olivia, Myles and Olga. Great Grandchildren: Liam and Malcolm and dear trusted friend, Betsy Feiden.
On behalf of Josephine and our family, we would like to express our appreciation to Robert Benton MD, Anthony Cagino MD, Michael Conley NP and Consuelo Morales RN; and a very special thanks to her son-in-law, David Huntley MD for his loving and attentive care 24/7. We are also very grateful for the kind care provided to our Mom by her trusted caregivers; Jennifer DeJesus, Patrice Beebe, Colleen Mattison and Jennifer Barr.
Her funeral mass will be Friday at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Troy. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Bowen & Parker Bros. Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham on Thursday from 4-7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham, NY 12110.
