Obituary for Michele A. McGuire

Troy - Loving and devoted grandmother, mother, life partner, and sister, Michele “Mimi” McGuire (Pickel) peacefully left this earth at age 68 on Monday, October 1, 2018. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Michele was born in Albany, NY to parents Leona and Joseph Pickel. She graduated from Albany High School and later worked for New York State in numerous roles for over 30 years. One of Michele’s greatest joys and proudest accomplishments was raising her four children in a single-family home she purchased in Watervliet, NY. Later in life, Michele enjoyed line dancing with friends, camping with her newfound love and partner Edward, spending time with her grandchildren, and catching up on her “programs”.
Michele is preceded in death by her father Joseph Pickel, Mother Leona Hodson, and sister Elizabeth Smarrow.
Michele is survived by daughter Nicole (Michael) Walberg, and grandchildren Abbey and Sophie of Wilton, CT; daughter Stephanie (John) Sorgie, and grandson Johnny and step-granddaughters Kaylia, Maydia, and Livia of Gansevoort, NY; daughter Julie (Tommy) Dunn, and grandson Aiden of Blue Point, NY; son Richard McGuire Jr. of Seattle, WA; life partner, Edward Hennesy from Lansingburgh, NY; and siblings Joseph Pickel Jr., Daniel Pickel, Cathy Paley, Michael Pickel and David Pickel.
A memorial visitation will be held at Parker Bros. Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 5 until 7 PM, with a celebration of life service taking place at 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the COPD Foundation, 3300 Ponce De Leon Blvd, Miami, FL 33134, or at copdfoundation.org.
