Obituary for Grace E. Brandley

LOUDONVILLE – Grace E. Brandley, 88, of Red Lane Drive, Loudonville, beloved and dedicated wife of the late John Brandley, died October 3, 2018 at Our Lady of Mercy Rehab. Center in Guilderland, NY.

Born in Meadowdale, NY, October 20, 1929, and educated in the Altamont school system, she was the daughter of the late John D. and Margaret Martin. Her husband, John, died in 1983. Together, she and John operated Brandley’s Shell Station at the Shaker Road and Osborne Road intersection until 1970. After that they operated a trucking business until a tragic car accident disabled John in 1971.

Grace worked for several years as an executive secretary for Tobin Packing Company in West Albany and later for Mosler Security. She was a member of the Newtonville United Methodist Church where she was very active in fund-raising events. Grace was a lover of animals, large and small, and tried to help anyone in need.

Grace’s brothers Arthur B. and Robert D. predeceased her. She is survived by her beloved care-givers Joan and John Schreiner and Ruth and Dick Horton, her nephew David A. Martin of Feura Bush, nieces Linda A. Miller of Delmar and Sharon L. Feldman of East Berne and grand-niece Allyson Martin and partner. Many beloved friends from Red Lane Drive, her church, and around the Capital District will mourn Grace.

A memorial service for Grace will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery and Memorial Park at 11:30 AM, October 6, 2018. Grace requested that memorial contributions be made to the Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society. Arrangements are handled by Bowen & Parker Bros. Funeral Home.
