Latham – Elizabeth C. “Betty” Rothmund, entered into eternal life, peacefully, on Friday, December 7, 2018 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. Betty lived to the wonderful age of 95.

She was born in Troy on October 22, 1923 and was the devoted daughter of the late Francis J. and Frances V. (Hillebrandt) Kilmartin. Betty lived much of her life in Albany and had also resided in Menands for several years before moving to Latham 11 years ago. She was employed for 25 years as an examiner with the New York State Workers Compensation Board in Albany from where she retired in 1981.

Betty enjoyed traveling and being a member of the Menands Senior Citizens. She was a former communicant of St. Joan of Arc Church in Menands and, in more recent years, attended Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Rothmund, her loving son, James E. Smith and her dear brother, Raymond Kilmartin. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Angela Smith of The Villages, Florida; her cherished grandchildren, Christine (Daniel) Bologna, James (Michelle) Smith, Jr. and William Smith; her adored great-grandchildren, Zachary (Rebecca) Tucker, Joshua Smith, Nicholas Smith, Daniel Bologna, Jr. and Sophia Bologna; her great-great-grandson, Axel Tucker and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated for Betty by the Reverend Geoffrey D. Burke on Wednesday at 11 am in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham. The Rite of Committal and interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Friends are invited to attend and may also visit with Betty’s family at Our Lady of the Assumption Church on Wednesday, prior to the Mass, from 10 am until 11 am.
