Obituary for Nancy Frances Capuano (Manilla)

Sycaway – Nancy Frances Capuano, 98, of Sycaway, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, January 31, 2019 with her loving family by her side. Born in Frosolone, Italy on October 17, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Rocco and Lucia Manillo.
Nancy moved to the states with her family as a young child and was raised and educated in Troy, living in the Sycaway area most of her life. While raising her six sons, she went back to school and became a licensed practical nurse. Nancy worked as an LPN at Samaritan Hospital for over 35 years in both the ER and the ICU, which she helped to start. She was a devout catholic and communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in Troy. She spent a lot of her time volunteering at the church as a member of the Altar Rosary Society and Lazarus Committee. Nancy enjoyed crocheting and knitting, reading, doing word search puzzles, watching her favorite TV shows, spending time with her family, and spending the summers camping at Schroon Lake in her trailer with her husband and her brother Dominick.
Nancy is survived by her six sons; Anthony J. (Sigrid) Capuano of Aston, PA, Gerald R. (Katharine) Capuano of Troy, Michael P. (Kathleen) Capuano of Clifton Park, Rocco A. (Ann) Capuano of Sycaway, Joseph P. (Mary Elizabeth) Capuano of Hudson, and John F. (Margaret) Capuano of Voorhesville, her brother and best friend, Dominick Manillo, and by 17 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Anthony J. Capuano, Sr. who passed away in 2008, her siblings; John Manella, Vincent Manillo, Rose Colangione, and Carmel Manillo, her grandchildren; Rocco Capuano and Jessica Capuano, and her daughters-in-law; Patricia Hanley Capuano, Nadene Banker Capuano, and Patricia Allen Capuano. Nancy’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the staff at Samaritan Hospital, especially the Progressive Care Unit, and Community Hospice for their top-notch care they provided to Nancy.
A mass of Christian burial will take place Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Victory Church, Troy. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. A visitation will take place on Tuesday evening, from 4 until 8 PM at Doran Funeral Home, 9 South Lake Ave., Troy. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember Nancy in a special way may consider a donation to Our Lady of Victory Church, 55 North Lake Ave., Troy, NY 12180.
