Obituary for Diane J. Hartnagle (Seekamp)

COHOES – Diane Joan (Seekamp) Hartnagle died on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy while under the care of the Community Hospice. She was 85 years old.

Born in Troy, Diane was the daughter of the late Henry R. and Helen (Gilbert) Seekamp. She was raised and educated in Troy and was a graduate of Troy High School. Over the years she also resided in the communities of Cohoes and Grafton.

She was married to Paul Fowler Coggeshall and together they had two daughters, Paula R. Coggeshall of Cohoes and the late Erika Coggeshall. She later was married to Allen Hartnagle. Both husbands preceded Diane in death.

Diane was called to care for others and dedicated much of her life to working as a home health aide. Her career was spent with the Visiting Nurses of Troy and, more recently, with Eddy Senior Services from where she retired. In all, she dedicated over 25 years to her career in the care for others.

Diane enjoyed arts and crafts and will be remembered for the beautiful things she created. She was a talented painter and excelled at needlepoint, quilting and creating beautiful items of jewelry. She was always focused on her family and helpful to anyone in need. Her benevolence extended to animals as she loved and rescued a number of animals over the years.

Diane is also survived by her grandchildren, Jon Michael Staude, Serafina and Apolonia Porto, Kristian Mackey and David Coggeshall; her great-grandson, Caiden Hardman; her cousins, Robert Gilbert, Jr. and Barbara Gilbert.

A funeral service will be celebrated by the Reverend Nicholas TeBordo on Sunday at 3pm in the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet. Cremation will follow and interment will take place, at a later date, in the Evergreen Cemetery in Wynantskill. Friends are invited to attend the service and may also visit with Diane’s family on Sunday, prior to the service, from 1 pm until 3 pm.

Special remembrances, in Diane’s name, may be made to the ASPCA, P.O. Box 96929, Washington, DC, 20090-6929 or the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204 in recognition of the love and care she offered to animals.
