Obituary for Matthew Clark Schienberg

Saratoga Springs – Matthew Clark Schienberg, 31, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Saratoga Hospital. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 13, 1988, he was the son of David Schienberg and Cynthia Clark.

Matt had a sense of humor that could lift the spirits of any room he walked into and he loved to make people laugh. He was a gentle-giant who was loved by many. Matt had a soft spot in his heart for children and animals. He volunteered much of his time at the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society walking dogs and helping out. He had an adventurous spirit and could often be found chasing adrenaline through skiing, snowmobiling, skydiving, hunting, fishing, and many other outdoor activities. While he enjoyed these hobbies, nothing made him happier than time spent with his family and dear friends, especially his niece Jenny-Benny. Matt would do anything for those he loved, and even became certified so that he could officiate his sister Abby’s wedding, a special act which will never be forgotten. He will be missed by all who were lucky enough to have known him.

Matt’s memory lives on in his loving family, which all referred to him as “the favorite”. Survivors include his mother, Cindy (Paul) Minkiewicz of Niskayuna, his father, David (Debbie) Schienberg of Latham, his 3 sisters; Abby (Colin) Alverson of Glenville, Megan (Landen) Pelish of Niskayuna, and Alyssa (Joe Fedele) Schienberg of Rochester, his grandmother, Loretta Minkiewicz of Latham, his nieces and nephews; Jennifer, Olive, and Reed, his dear friend, Bryan Isbell, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Matt’s family from 4 until 7 PM on Friday, January 17, 2020 at Bowen and Parker Bros. Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 10 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Niskayuna Reformed Church Cemetery. Those who wish to remember Matt in a special way may consider a donation to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
