Obituary for Eileen F. Sunkis
WATERVLIET – Eileen Frances Sunkis, 72, died peacefully Sunday, February 16, 2020 at the Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush. She was born in Troy on May 13, 1947, the daughter of the late Edward and Charlotte Clark Sunkis.
Eileen was raised in Green Island and was a graduate of Heatly School. She resided in the Port Schuyler section of Watervliet for many years. She was employed by the New York State Dept. of Audit & Control in Albany as a stenographer for over 37 years before retiring in 2001.
She was a former member of the Colonie Lodge of Elks Ladies Auxiliary. Eileen enjoyed crocheting and watching old movies.
She is the beloved mother of Darrell (late Rachel) Coonrad of Waterford; grandmother of Brilynn and Rozalyn Lemons; sister of the late Irene Sunkis and Louise Shackett. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Wednesday at 1:00 pm at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet with Rev. Donald Rutherford officiating. Interment will follow in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Wednesday prior to the service from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.
