Obituary for Virginia "Ginny" Skinner (Dunham)

LATHAM - Virginia H. Skinner, 86, of Latham, NY, passed away after a brief illness at Saratoga Hospital on Sunday, November 8, 2020.

Born March 3, 1934 in Augusta, Maine. She was the daughter of Clarine (Hubbard) Stewart and Clifford Chessman Dunham. Ginny had two siblings; Shirley Hinds and Constance Crosson.

Ginny grew up in Fayette, Maine and graduated from Livermore Falls High School in 1952. soon after graduation she enlistedin and served in the U.S. Army, Women's Army Corps. Ginny worked for International Harvester several years, then left her position just before her third child was born. In 1981, Ginny went back to work at Albany Medical Center Hospital and retired in 1999.

Ginny’s greatest love was her family. She devoted her life to her husband Walter and raised her four children; Patty, Patrick (Bill), Douglas, and Scott in Watervliet. She loved socializing with her neighbors and friends, especially the men at the Watervliet Fire Department, where her son worked for years.

Ginny lived a wonderful and happy life. She was always there to lend a helping hand to her family, friends, and neighbors. In her free time, Ginny enjoyed crocheting. Every year she would surprise someone in the community with one of her blankets of love. Ginny enjoyed watching the Red Sox and New England Patriots football team. She was a member of Jermaine Memorial Presbyterian Church in Watervliet. She was also, a member of the King’s Daughters and the Schuyler Heights Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Ginny is survived by her daughter; Patricia Lessard, Ballston Spa, NY, her sons; Patrick (Joanne) Mitchell, Keeseville, NY, Douglas (Stacy) Skinner, Leesburg, VA, and Scott Skinner, Malta, NY, her grandchildren; Kate (Jared) Paul, Sr, Plant City, FL, Melissa Skinner (Ashad Thompson), Miami, FL, Sarah Skinner, Malta, NY, and Kiley Jacobus, Leesburg, VA, and three great grandchildren – Jared, Carson and Aidyn. Ginny had many nieces and nephews.

Ginny’s family will receive visitors from 3 until 6 pm Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Parker Brothers Memorial Funeral Home, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet NY 12189.
The funeral service will be at 9:30 am Monday, November 16, 2020 at Parker Brothers Memorial Funeral Home and burial will follow immediately at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY 12871. Face masks and social distancing will be required at all venues.
