Obituary for Douglas M. "Doug" Pierre Sr.

Cohoes – Douglas M. Pierre, Sr., 53, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 5, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer. Born in Cohoes, he is the son of the late Leo and Carole (Fonda) Pierre.

Doug was employed by The Cohoes City School District for almost 20 years before having to retire due to his illness. He was a handy man that could fix anything and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. On Sunday’s Doug could be found in front of any television cheering on his beloved Buffalo Bills especially his favorite Bill of all time, Hall of Famer, Jim Kelly. Doug will be remembered most of all as a loving, caring and generous man who’s family meant the world to him.

Doug is survived by his wife, Rhonda Adams Pierre; his children, Jessica (Chad) Grugan, T.J. (Justin Carmel) Dickson, Doug (Cora Dozois) Pierre,Jr., James (Ariana Dion) White and Kraig Mercure; his siblings, Tammy Lussier, Wayne (Marcy) Pierre, Carole (Robert) Blide, Joe (Dana) Pierre, Corey (Jodi) Pierre, Heidi (Frank) Bessette, Bryan (Gina) Pierre, Randy (Binnie Chriss) Pierre, and Jarrod (Tara) Pierre; his brothers-in-law, Larry Nielson, Donni (Kelsey) Adams and Nicholas (Katie) Adams; his sisters-in-law, Jessie Adams, Ronette (Pete) Miorin, Carrie (Kevin) O’Connell and Jennifer Adams; his mother-in-law, Lyn Wagner; his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Mackaylee, Sophia, Jacob, James and Cecelia. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. In addition to his parents, Doug was predeceased by his sister, Darlene Nielson; his brother, Erick Pierre; and his brothers-in-law, Frank and Steve Adams.

Calling hours for Doug will be held on Tuesday June 8th from 4-7 pm at The Parker Bros Memorial Funeral Home, 2013 Broadway in Watervliet. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday June 9th at 10am, burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Waterford.
