Obituary for Stanley Moczulsky

WATERVLIET – Stanley Moczulsky, 97, died Sunday evening, June 6, 2021 at the Daughter of Sarah Nursing Center in Albany. He was born in the Ukraine on November 3, 1923. He married his beloved late wife, Kataryna Oskoryp Moczulsky in Germany on September 21, 1945. She passed away on October 30, 2018 after being married for 73 years.

He emigrated to the United States in 1949 first settling in Boston and later moving to Watervliet. He was employed in construction for 6 years and later was employed by Adirondack Steel in Watervliet for 26 years as a finisher before retiring in 1985.

He was a communicant of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Watervliet and was a member of the church choir. He was a member of the Ukrainian American Citizens Club where he served many terms as president.

He was also a member of the Ukrainian Congress Committee, Ukrainian National Association and the St. Nicholas Brotherhood.

Stanley enjoyed gardening around his home and his daily walks around Watervliet with his wife Kataryna. He was also an avid bowler and enjoyed watching baseball and football and playing pool, his weekly card games and shooting darts at the Club.

He was the loving father of Stanley Mochusky of Yorktown Heights, NY and the late Stephen (Jenitza) Mochulsky; proud grandfather of Anne (Paul) Bingaman of Stamford, CT, Joshua Mochulsky of Simpsonville, SC and Andrew (Taylor) Mochulsky of Desert Springs, CA; great grandfather of Nora, Eleanor and Gatsby Mochulsky; brother of the late Rosie Buchnat of France. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews in Ukraine and France.

The funeral will be Friday at 12:30 pm from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 1:00 pm at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Watervliet. Burial to follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Maplewood. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 3-6 pm with the Parastas service at 5:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 2410 4th Avenue, Watervliet, NY 12189.
