Obituary for Mary E. Romano (Bisio)

WATERVLIET – Mary (Maria) E. Bisio Romano, 97, it is with sadness we announce Mary’s passing on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by her son Rick and daughter Donna who held her until the end.

Mary always put others first. Her sweet caring disposition was the base of her life.

She was born in Little Falls, NY on September 4, 1924 to the late Gennaro and Rose Federico Bisio. She was a long-time resident of Watervliet, NY.

Some of her happiest days were the marriage of her son, birth of her granddaughter and her visits to her daughter in Colorado and Washington, DC. She lived her life enjoying the simple things-family most of all.

She always enjoyed the morning coffee meetings with her lifelong friends “the girls” at McDonald’s. She loved the freedom and peacefulness her drives in her car afforded her-shopping and visiting her sister and brother-in-law in Colonie.

Although her mother and sister took pride in cooking for family and holiday dinners, she admittedly was not the cook in the family, although she enjoyed the gatherings through the years.

She was the wife of the late Ricardo “Ray” Romano; beloved mother of Donna Romano formerly of Washington, DC and now Watervliet, NY and Ricardo “Rick” (Linda) Romano of Latham; adored grandmother of Alexandria “Alex” Romano of Latham; dear sister of Paul (late Kathleen) Bisio of Schenectady, Louis (Joan) Bisio of Troy and the late Anthony “Tony” (late Glenna) Bisio of Watervliet, the late Joseph (Judy survives) Bisio of Latham and the late Isabelle (Raymond survives) Gabriel of Colonie. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 2416 7th Avenue, Watervliet, NY 12189.
