Obituary for Roseanne M. "Rosie" Antoniak (Weidman)

MENANDS – Roseanne M. Weidman Antoniak passed from this life at the age of 74, on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at her daughter’s home where she was surrounded by the love of her family.

Rosie, as she was lovingly known by family and friends, was born in Albany on February 25, 1948 and was the daughter of the late John J. Weidman, Sr. and Mary Dennin Weidman. She was raised and educated in Menands and was a graduate of the Academy of the Holy Names in Albany. Rosie was employed by the State of New York and retired as a senior account clerk with the retirement system following 35 years of service.

If you had the chance to meet Rosie you fell in love with her and she would return that love many times over. She was always the life of any party she attended and when she was the host would be quick to offer you a drink or a bite to eat. She made life-long friends wherever she went and those friends became her extended family, especially at O’Sullivan’s in Lake George, NY and The Tiki in Treasure Island, Florida where she spent the majority of her retirement years.

Rosie was the beloved wife of the late Robert J. Antoniak; mother of Brenda (Al) Blake; grandmother of Taylor Blake (Kyle Eschborn) and Albert Blake; great-grandmother of Kendal Blake; sister of Mary Johnson (late George), the late John J. Weidman, Jr., whose wife Barbara survives, the late Edgar Weidman whose wife Janet survives and the late Daniel Weidman whose wife Mary survives; sister-in-law to the late Stephen Antoniak, the late Karen Antoniak, James Antoniak, John (Sally) Antoniak, Linda Antoniak, David (Nikki) Antoniak, Tammy Antoniak and Timothy (Helen) Antoniak as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Friends are invited to visit with Rosie’s family on Thursday, from 4 until 7 pm, at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway in Watervliet. The evening will conclude with a prayer service at 7pm. Rosie’s family encourages those attending to wear their favorite beach bar attire in her honor. Rosie will be interred privately in Memory Gardens in Colonie.

In lieu of flowers, her family suggests that, at an appropriate time, you bask in the sunshine and raise a glass in a toast to Rosie. We know she would appreciate that. Donations in her memory may be made to the Connect Center for Youth, 49 Johnson Avenue, Cohoes, NY 12047 www.donorboy.org/connectcenter
