Obituary for Cheryl N. Liburdi (Ryan)

WATERVLIET – Cheryl N. (Ryan) Liburdi, 68, passed peacefully Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Samaritan Hospital with her loving children at her side.

She was born in Troy on March 11, 1954, the daughter of the late John and Marion (LaBelle) Ryan. Cheryl was raised in Watervliet and was a graduate of Sacred Heart of Mary School and Catholic Central High School in Troy.

Cheryl was employed by Topps Department Store in Menands earlier in her life until she found her calling in the acquisitions department at the New York State Library in Albany where she was employed for over 30 years retiring in 2010. Most recently, Cheryl has been employed as a dietary aide on the weekends with the Daughters of Charity in Menands for the past 15 years where she found happiness in service to others.

Cheryl loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed vacationing with her family in York Beach, Maine. She loved music especially “classic rock” and could “Name that Tune” for every song she heard and would always sing along. Cheryl was very kindhearted and always took care of everyone. At the holidays, she always dressed up to make everyone laugh. Her richly deserved nickname was “Happy” as she always looked to spread happiness and joy to those around her. Those who had the privilege of knowing her will remember her fondly with a smile on her face and a song in her heart.

She is the loving mother of Kimberly (Trevor) Morrison of Watervliet, Shannon (Dan) Reohr of Latham, Shawn (Jessica) Liburdi of Latham and Keith (Danielle Gilligan) Mott of Watervliet; adored grandmother of Chloe and Abby Morrison, Logan and Evan Reohr; sister of the late Bonnie (late Dan) Ryan-Mott, the late Michael (wife Lucy survives) Ryan and the late Gary Ryan; best friend of the late Sharon Oskam.

Relatives and friends may call at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Monday from 4:00-6:30 pm followed by a funeral service at 6:30 pm with Rev. Sam Bellafiore officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Make A Wish Northeast New York, 3 Washington Square, Albany, NY 12205.
