Obituary for Harry Douglas Willbrant

Petersburgh – Harry Douglas Willbrant, 74, passed away Wednesday evening, May 4, 2022. Born in Cherry Plain on January 14, 1948, he was the son of the late Harry L. and Hilda (Thomas) Willbrant.

Doug was a 1965 graduate of Hoosick Falls Central School, following which he went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, until his honorable discharge. He married the love of his life, Janet (Danforth) Willbrant on January 26, 1969, and together they shared 53 years of marriage.

Doug’s passion was for agriculture. He worked at the Evergreen Farm in Petersburgh for 43 years. Once he retired from there, he worked part-time at the McMahon Family Farm. When not farming, Doug still loved to be outdoors and enjoyed hunting and being in the woods at his beloved camp that he built. He loved doing puzzles and teaching his grandchildren all about wildlife, nature, and animals. He spent countless hours sitting at camp with his oldest grandson Emmitt feeding their favorite squirrel, Frankie.

Doug is survived by his loving wife, Janet Willbrant of Petersburgh, his 4 children; Keith Willbrant of Cohoes, Kevin (Michelle) Willbrant of Buskirk, Carrie Willbrant of Troy and Cory Willbrant of Wynantskill, his 3 grandchildren; Emmitt, Addison, and Owen Willbrant, his sister Edna (Richard) Schumacher, and by many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 12 PM on Monday, May 9, 2022 at the family home, 2 Willbrant Road, Petersburgh, NY. All are invited to a visitation at the family home before the service, from 11 AM to 12 PM. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember Doug in a special way may consider a donation to the Berkshire Bird Paradise, 43 Red Pond Road, Petersburgh, NY 12138.
