Obituary for John Joseph Sokol Jr.

In loving memory of John Sokol, Jr.

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, John Sokol, Jr., who departed from this world on June 6, 2023. He leaves behind a legacy filled with cherished memories and an everlasting love that will forever reside in our hearts.

John was a proud Navy veteran who served in the Korean War. He was also a dedicated and long standing member of the Maplewood Conservation Club. He had a passion for fishing, mushroom picking, and he always enjoyed a good road trip.

John is survived by his wife, Gail Sokol, his children; Mark Sokol, Christine Zeller, Molinda Hulsopple, Bruce Weidman, Millard Weidman and by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends who were all touched by his presence. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Tally Lorin Sokol.

We invite you to join us in celebrating his life at a graveside service which will be held at Saint Basil’s Cemetery in Maplewood on Saturday, June 10th at 12:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in his name to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, a cause close to his heart.

We find solace in knowing that Dad rests in eternal peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before him. May John's soul find tranquility, and may we carry his memory in our hearts, forever grateful for the time we shared with him.

Rest in peace, Dad. You will be deeply missed and eternally loved.
